World of Wonka Overview
A couple of years ago SG Interactive, or Williams Interactive, now under Light & Wonder, released several Willy Wonka slot games in land-based casinos and these games where an instant hit. You saw them everywhere.
They seem to be just as popular as the Wizard of Oz slots years earlier. And just as those games, they all use images and music from the classic 1971 movie with Gene Wilder.
Now Light & Wonder have released Willy Wonka – World of Wonka online at selected casinos.
Like I mentioned, the game is themed around the 1971 movie. So you will see Willy Wonka, his guests and also oompa loompas. It’s all very colorful, just like the movie.
The game uses 6 reels that are each 4 symbols high and comes with 25 lines. At least in the base game.
You will find low paying candy symbols and medium to high paying characters. Oompa Loompas are the wild symbols, which also appear on all reels. And last we have the Everlasting Gobstopper, which is the bonus symbol. All normal symbols can appear stacked on all reels.
Willy Wonka – World of Wonder comes with a maximum payout of 1.030 times your bet. Which is low, but it’s also a low to medium volatile slot game.

Oompa Loompa Feature
During any normal spin you can randomly trigger this feature.
The reels are stretched to 8 or even 10 reels and will also increase the number of paylines to 50 instead of 25. You simply play on 2 reel sets instead of 1.
During this feature all pays are multiplied by 2.
Now giant wild reels will slide onto the reels. Stopping at random and awarding several wild reels. After this the normal reels stop spinning and you are paid.
It is possible to get a full screen of wild reels during this feature.
Bonus Respin
If you get 2 or more bonus symbols on 2 or more reels, you will trigger a free respin. All reels respin, but only bonus symbols can now appear. If you get 3 or more bonus symbols you will trigger the Wheel Feature.
Wheel Feature
A giant wheel will spin and land on one of the following rewards?
- Multiplier of between x5 and x80 your bet, which will award an instant cash prize
- 8, 10 or 12 Free Spins where you play on 2 reel sets and colossal Willy Wonka symbols are randomly placed over the reels
- Chocolate River where you pick up to 7 cash rewards which can also be multiplied up to 20x
- You Get Nothing lets you pick between 3 options which will award a cash reward of between 100x and 400x bet
Wonka Golden Ticket
After the Wheel Feature, no matter what bonus it lands on, a giant chocolate bar will be opened. This will reveal nothing, a multiplier of between 1x and 10x bet. Or a Golden Ticket, which will award 400x bet.
Verdict
When these games, because yes there are more than just World of Wonka, came out, they where an instant hit. Of course part of the use of the movie, but also because these games where rather new. They used big screens with a lot of reels. Which of course doesn’t translate that well online.
But also because of the amount of bonuses. They really felt like the Ruby Slippers slot of Wizard of Oz. With the random wild reels and several bonuses.
Of course if you actively dislike the movie, you won’t like this game, because it highly revolves around that theme.
I really like this game. I like the theme and all bonuses. But for me, Ruby Slippers is still better. But there is one thing I don’t like and that’s the maximum payout. This is very low, just over 1.000 times bet, Which does keep it from ever getting really exciting.
