Back in 2021 Play’n Go released a game called The Green Knight. Which is set in exactly the same world as this new version, which is simply called Return of The Green Knight.
The game still uses The Knights of the Round table as the main theme. And to be honest, uses almost exactly the same type of symbols. Card symbols and different characters.
You will find 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and 20 lines.
Besides standard card symbols you will also find different characters, like for instance Arthur. There are also a wild symbols on all reels, which are big colorful shields. And of course The Green Knight, which counts as the scatter symbol and can also land on all 5 reels.
Return of The Green Knight comes with a huge maximum payout of 40.000 times your bet. The original went up to 10.000x. This is also a very high volatile slot game.

Wild Multiplier
At random, during any base spin, the meter with multipliers on top of the reels can be activated. When it does, it will land on a random multiplier and all wild symbols appearing on the reels will now have that multiplier. Multipliers can be x2, x5, x10, x25 and x100. Any winning combination with at least 1 wild symbol will be multiplied. Multipliers are not accumulated or multiplied when more than 1 of them is used in a winning combination.
Free Spins Feature
3 or more scatter symbols will award 5 free spins.
Each free spin will have an active multiplier. The first, second, third, fourth and fifth spin will have the x2, x5, x10, x25 and x100 multiplier respectively.
- Shield Spins
2 or more scatter symbols during free spins will trigger Shield Spins.
The multiplier that was active when triggering Shield Spins will stay active for 5 free spins, but all wild symbols now appearing will become sticky wilds and will stay on the reels during all Shield Spins.
Scatters don’t appear during Shield Spins. When Shield Spins are done, the normal free spins continue, unless triggered on the x100 multiplier.
Verdict
Play’n Go kept a lot of what made the first version great. The multipliers that can trigger at random during a base spin. And are all awarded during free spins. Even the extra free spins when 2 or more scatters appear, is kept. But they have added one new feature, which makes this game a lot more interesting. The sticky wild symbols.
Imagine getting 5 free spins with sticky wilds with a x100 multiplier. And then hitting a couple of those multipliers. That is almost guaranteed a huge win.
This added feature also is the fact that maximum payout went from x10.000 to x40.000 times bet. Which is a big jump.
I really liked the original, in fact, still do. But I think this sequel does replace that one for me. Return of The Green Knight is a great game and definitely worth a try.
