Divine Fortune Gold – Overview
NetEnt seems to really like their Divine Fortune slots. Because after the first Divine Fortune we’ve seen Divine Fortune Megaways, and Divine Fortune Black. And now, a year after the black version, we get a gold version with Divine Fortune Gold. Which also adds a progressive jackpot.
The theme has stayed the same, revolving around Medusa and Pegasus and other mythical creatures from Greek mythology.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and comes with 10 paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium to high paying creatures, you will also find wild symbols on all reels, which is the Pegasus symbol. Special bronze, silver and golden coins can appear on all reels. And lastly there are collect symbols, which appear on reels 1 and 5. Scatter symbols aren’t available on this slot game.
Divine Fortune Gold comes with a pretty low maximum payout of 1.000 times your bet, unless you get the progressive jackpot. And it’s a low volatile slot game.
Features
Expanding wilds
Any wild Pegasus that appear on the reels will expand to cover the entire reel.
Cash Collection
On reels 1 and 5 there are special Collector symbols that might appear. If any bronze, silver or gold coin is on the reels, their cash value is instantly collected and paid.
Hold & Re-spin Bonuses
Landing 6 coins at the same time will trigger the Hold & Re-spin feature with one of the random coins (bronze, silver or Gold). Landing any coin can also trigger the corresponding Hold & Re-spin feature.
Each feature starts with 3 re-spins on reels that are 5 by 5 symbols big. Only blank spots and coins appear. Any new coin that appears is held and resets free spins back to 3. Feature ends when you run out of spins (lives) or when you fill the entire screen, which also award the Mega Progressive Jackpot.
Hold & Re-spins come with added features, depending on the type of coin you trigger.
- Bronze – At the end of all re-spins, all coin values are doubled.
- Silver – At the end of all re-spins all coins are upgraded to the next tier, from bronze to silver, silver to gold and gold will become a mystery symbol. Each mystery symbol will reveal a Fortune Collector, which will collect all values on the reels and gets that value, Adders will add a value of between 3x and 50x to up to 10 random coins on the reels or a Restart, which will award 3 lives and continue re-spins, buy the upgrade isn’t awarded a second time.
- Gold – At the end of all re-spins the silver upgrade triggers and then the bronze double happens.
Jackpots
Filling a row during any of the bonuses will award a jackpot. 1, 2, 3, 4 or all 5 rows filled will award, Mini (15x), Midi (50x), Maxi (100x), Major (250x) and Mega (progressive jackpot) respectively.
Bonus Buys
You can buy the bronze, silver and gold spins for 50x, 150x and 300x bet respectively.
Verdict
Somehow NetEnt removed the free spins feature with the expanding and nudging wilds. Which is a but of a shame, because that was a nice bonus.
They now only focus on the Hold & Re-spin features. Which are nothing new and have been done a lot already.
But to be honest, when I was playing, I enjoyed them, especially the gold one, with the upgrades and the multiplier.
Until I saw the maximum payout. Of only 1.000 times bet. Which is way too low for one of these slots. And I get that the game comes with a huge progressive jackpot, but we all know, hitting that one is very, very rare.
Because of that extremely low maximum payout, the game falls a bit flat for me. So I guess this game needs to be viewed as a progressive jackpot slot only. Chase that jackpot, that’s it.
Overall Divine Fortune Gold just is the most basic version of all Divine Fortune games.
