Here’s my first new slot release review for 2025 and this time it’s a game from Play’n Go called Midnight Gold.
If the game looks familiar, it’s because Play’n Go already used the same characters and theme on their game Highway Legends. Surrounding a couple that robs horse driven coaches. In sort of a baroque era.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 3 high and comes with 10 paylines.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium paying jewelry symbols, there are also high paying character symbols. Then we have wild symbols on all reels and scatter symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5.
There are also Cash Symbols on reels 1, 2, 3 and 4 and a special Deliver symbol on reel 5.
Midnight Gold comes with a very big maximum payout of 20.000 times bet and is a medium to high volatile slot game.

Deliver Feature
A special Deliver Symbol can appear on reel 5 during base spins. When it appears it will collect all cash symbols present on the other reels.
Cash symbols can be bags or chests and come with a random value of between x2 and x250 times bet.
Mystery Instant Win
When you get a spin that is almost a Free Spins Trigger, there is a chance that you instantly get a mystery sin of between 5 and 20 times bet.
Free Spins Features
The game comes with 2 different free spins features. Getting all three scatter symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 at the same time will trigger the bonus and lets you chose between the two different free spins features.
During both free spins features a random multiplier might become active during each spin. This will make all wild symbols become multiplier wilds with x2, x3, x5, x10 or x20.
- Stacked Wilds Free Spins – 10 free spins where each wild symbol will expand to cover the entire reel. Each wild will also add 1 more free spin.
- Roaming Wilds Free Spins – 10 free spins where each wild symbol that appears will become a roaming wild that will move to a new spot after each spin. Each new wild appearing will also add 1 more free spin.
Super Free Spins
If you land two normal scatters on reels 1 and 3 and a golden scatter on reel 5, you will trigger Super Free Spins. You still get to pick between the two free spins features. But now the multiplier is active during each free spin.
Verdict
Midnight Gold really has a very similar theme as Highway Legends and even with most of the same features. But they have now added those multipliers. That do make a difference in what the game can pay.
I’m not really sure why the game isn’t a little more different. Maybe the first one didn’t make a impact and they are just trying again, with a game that can pay a lot more than the original. That one only went up to 1.250 times bet. Not the massive 20.000 times bet Midnight Gold can pay out.
The game is a little too similar to the original to be very exciting about. But the new maximum win does make a huge difference and the random multipliers are a nice added touch.
