Legion Gold and the Sphinx of Dead – Overview
Normally games from Play’n Go that come with the “of Dead” adjective, are “Book of” clones with some sort of added or different bonus. Now they have released a game with this title that’s a clone of an earlier title called Legion Gold Unleashed, which was an update version of Legion Gold.
It combines the theme of the original Legion Gold with the Egyptian theme from the Book of slot games. So we find gladiators, but also Egyptian animals and the pyramids on the background.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and comes with 25 lines.
Besides low paying card symbols, you will also find different animals and other Egyptian symbols. Wild symbols, which are gladiators, can appear stacked on all reels. And scatter symbols only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5. Lastly there are golden coin symbols, which are also bonus symbols and can appear stacked on all reels.
Legion Gold and the Sphinx of Dead comes with a low maximum payout of 3.000 times your bet and is a medium volatile slot game.

Gold Re-spins
Gold Coins will have values of between 1x and 1.000x. When 6 or more of these golden coins land you will trigger 3 re-spins.
All golden coins are held and the reels re-spin. Only Gold Coins can land and also a chest.
When a chest lands, all values on the golden coins are instantly awarded. Only golden coins that land will lock in place, not the chests. But both will add an extra re-spin when appearing.
The feature ends when you have no more re-spins or when you have filled the entire screen. Filling the screen will also reward an extra 1.000x your bet.
Mega Free Spins
3 scatter symbols will award 5 Mega Free Spins.
During each free spin a colossal symbol of 3×3 symbols big will move across the reels and land on a random symbol. After this the other 2 reels stop spinning.
The colossal symbol can also land on a scatter, which will award 5 more free spins, up to a maximum of 45.
If a Golden Coin appears in the colossal symbol, they become 9 separate golden coins and you will trigger the Gold Re-spins feature.
Verdict
This new version is an exact clone of Legion Gold Unleashed. And I wasn’t a big fan of that game either.
So no surprise that I am also not impressed with this one. I am not even sure why this game was released, because it doesn’t add anything new or different, just a slightly different theme.
Overall Legion Gold and the Sphinx of Dead is a pass for me. But I am sure some players will enjoy it, it is a medium volatile game, which are more rare these days.
