Honey Rush – Black and Yellow – Overview
Play’n Go has a couple of slots within their Honey Rush series. Which for some reason, I never posted about. But here we have another one called Honey Rush – Black and Yellow.
The black and yellow of course referring to the colors of a bee. But also to the 2011 hit song Black and Yellow, by Wiz Khalifa. Which is the soundtrack for this game.
The bees have moved to the city it seems. Where the honeycomb reels are now set against a city skyline background and the bees blasting a boombox.
The game uses 7 reels that are each 4, 5, 6, 7, 6, 5 and 4 symbols high. And uses a cluster pays mechanism. 5 or more of the same symbols connected, count as a winning combination. Winning symbols will also be removed from the reels and new symbols fall on top, creating new options for winning combinations within the same spin.
Besides low paying flower symbols you will also find medium and high paying symbols like coins and diamonds. Wild symbols can also appear. And finally there are cash symbols, more on those below. There are no scatter or bonus symbols on this game.

Cash Symbols and Bee
Cash symbols come with a random value of between 0.2x and 100x bet. When Cash symbols land in a winning cluster of 5 or more, you awarded the total cash values of the cash symbols.
If Cash symbols are not part of a winning combination, they are collected by the Bee on the left. At any point this Bee can trigger and award one of the jackpot amounts of 10x, 20x, 50x or 100x bet.
Rush Meter
On the right of the reels you will find the Rush Meter. All winning symbols from winning clusters are collected into this meter. And when no more winning symbols are collected, the features are activated. When buying a new spin, the Rush Meter resets.
- Level 1 – After 30 symbols collected – Drone Colony – Creates a cluster of 7+ of the same symbols
- Level 2 – After 60 symbols collected – Worker Colony – Creates a cluster of 10-15 of the same symbols
- Level 3 – After 90 symbols collected – Queen Colony – Creates a cluster of 20-37 of the same symbols
Walking Wilds
Walking Wilds appear with a multiplier between x1 and x3. They substitute for paying symbols and are not removed when contributing to a win. After each win, regardless of whether the wilds were involved, they move to a random available position following every cascade, and their multiplier increases by +1. Once a Walking Wild reaches its maximum multiplier of x3, it is removed after the final cascade or spin.
If the initial spin does not result in a win, there is a chance that between 2 and 4 Walking Wilds will be randomly added to the reels. When multiple wilds contribute to the same win, their multipliers are combined.
Verdict
Honey Rush – Black and Yellow keeps the game very much like the other versions.
The way to win big on this game is by collecting more and more symbols and activate that Rush Meter. Which will award guaranteed winning clusters. Add several multiplier wilds and the game can pay huge.
The jackpot feature is a just a nice little added touch, but that’s not the focus of this game with only a 100x paying Grand jackpot.
Play’n Go is known for creating slots around music. Like their *Nsync and City of Sound slots. And this one uses the pretty popular song from Wiz Khalifa.
Overall it’s a fun game, with big win potential and a great soundtrack.
