Buster’s Bones was released by NetEnt in 2023.

For this game NetEnt combined dogs and a western theme. So you will find the reels set against a desert setting, as if you are in Nevada. And dogs dressed as bandits and sheriffs.

The game uses 6 reels that are each 6 symbols high and uses scatter pays instead of paylines. As long as 5 or more of the same symbols appear anywhere on the reels, it will count as a winning combination.

Besides regular card symbols and different dog symbols, you will also find wild symbols, bones symbols and the main character, Buster. More on Buster below.
There are also scatter symbols, but only 2 can appear at the same time, which is also explained later.

Avalanches

Buster’s Bones uses avalanches, something NetEnt uses more often.

This means that winning symbols are removed from the reels and all other symbols fall down. New symbols fall on top and can give another winning combination. This will keep repeating itself until no new winning combination appears.

Buster’s Bones Feature

When the special Buster symbol lands anywhere on the reels and at least one bones symbol, the Buster’s Bones Feature is triggered.

The Buster symbol moves around the reels and will collect all bones symbols and turns them wild. Buster will also add up all multipliers that appear on the bones. If all bones are collected, Buster will also turn wild and will receive a multiplier that is the total of all bones collected.

Free Spins Feature

If 2 scatter symbols appear and also the Buster symbol, you will trigger the free spins feature.

You will be awarded with 8 free spins. During free spins the Buster symbol will always be on the reels, collecting every bone that might appear. The multiplier of Buster will not reset between free spins and can only go up.

1 or 2 scatters during free spins will add 1 and 3 extra free spins.

Random Features

During any normal spin either bone symbols, the Buster symbol or both might be added to the reels.

Verdict

For me Buster’s Bones isn’t the best NetEnt release out there. This doesn’t have anything to do with how the game looks, it’s a great looking game.

But it does have to do with the bonuses. Although Buster collecting bones and turning them wild is fun. It’s never really exciting. And that’s mainly because you can only have one Buster on the reels, but also because the maximum win on this game is less than 1.000 times bet. Which is very low.

I’m sure a lot of novice players will love the game. And they should. But for me, as a die-hard slot fan, it’s a bit too lame.
