Gonzo’s Quest was released by NetEnt back in 2011 and is one of those iconic slot games. It is very well known in the online slot world. And the character Gonzo might be one of the most recognizable characters ever.

The game uses an explorer theme, Gonzo, who is looking for Shangri-la the city of gold.

It uses 5 reels which are each 3 symbols high and comes with 20 lines. Symbols consist of different colored masks. But you will also find question mark symbols, which count as wilds. Golden discs  appear on reels 1, 2 and 3 and are needed to trigger the free spins feature.

Verdict

Gonzo’s Quest was released back on 2011 and made a huge impact. The avalanche feature, although now very common, was something pretty rare back then. And I think this game made it become a lot more popular and is the reason why we see it a lot more today.

Also the increasing multiplier combined with the avalanches was something new. Something we now see a lot with Megaways slots.

I have always liked this game a lot. Still do. But I should also mention that the game can become a bit boring after a while, mainly because of the avalanches, which feels slow. And also the payout isn’t that big on this game. It was normal back than, but we see much higher payouts these days.

During free spins you can get some decent wins of 500x or even 1000x your bet. But don’t expect a lot more than that.
