Wild Rockets was a slot game by NetEnt that was released back in 2012. It used a fireworks theme. It came with 720 ways instead of paylines.
At the time that was pretty rare. And probably copied from one of the biggest land-based providers, IGT. Which already used this setup on several of their slot games.
Reels didn’t have the same number of symbols and also payed left to right and right to left. Symbols counted as a winning combination as long as they where on adjacent reels starting from reel 1 to 5 or from reel 5 to 1.
What made Wild Rockets even more fun where the wild symbols. The wild rockets would expand over the reels in the way they pointed at. So if a wild rocket lands on the bottom of a reel and the arrows pointed up, that whole reel became wild. And the wild symbol used to appear on reels 2, 3 and 4, so you could get a pretty nice win when all 3 would appear.
During the free spins feature you could win up to 50 free games and more wild rockets would appear during this feature.
I believe Wild Rockets was discontinued in 2019. So it had a pretty decent run.
Of course the main reason was the lack of interest after so many years. These older slots just don’t bring in the players anymore.
I do think it’s a shame, because the mechanisms on this game were fun, the theme is also not used that often en looked nice. And you could get some great wins on Wild Rockets.
