Catrina’s Coins Overview
It’s time for a new game from Quickspin, which I’m always pretty excited about, I love Quickspin.
This time they went with a Day of the Dead theme. A theme we have seen before from many different providers. Titles like Day of Dead, Muerto en Mictlán and Muertos Multiplier Megaways are just a few. It’s always a popular theme, in part because it’s always very colorful.
Reels are set inside a shrine within a town square, which looks nice, although the reels themselves are a bit small.
The game use 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and comes with 20 lines.
Besides low paying card symbols and medium to high paying “Day of the Dead type” symbols, you will also find wild symbols on all reels. For bonus symbols you can find skulls on all reels. All normal playing symbols and also the skulls can appear stacked on all reels.
Besides all these symbols you can also land a piñata, which triggers a feature explained below.
Catrina’s Coins comes with a nice maximum payout of 10.000 times your bet and is a high volatile game.
Catrina’s Coins Features
During any spin, in the base game and during the Pueblo del Cielo Bonus, one or more piñata symbols can land. When it lands it will reveal a random multiplier of x2, x3, x4 or x5.
The multiplier is applied to all winning combinations and star prizes in the bae game. And to all skulls and stars during the Pueblo del Cielo Bonus.
If more than one piñata appear at the same time, the multipliers are added together.
Any Star symbol that appears will award a set jackpot amount of 20x, 100x, 500x or 2000x bet. Stars can only land on reel 5 during the base game and on all reels during the Pueblo del Cielo Bonus.
Pueblo del Cielo Bonus
Getting at least 3 Skulls in the bae game will trigger the Pueblo del Cielo Bonus. Each Skull will get a random multiplier of between x1 and x5 and are transferred over to the bonus.
During the Pueblo del Cielo Bonus only Skulls, Stars, Piñatas or blanks appear. Free spins will award 3 respins and each time a new symbol appears, these are reset back to 3.
The bonus ends when you run out of respins. After this all collected multiplier are added together and multiplied by your total bet.
Some casinos will offer the option to buy Pueblo del Cielo Bonus for 60 times your bet.
I am always a big fan of Quickspin. I think there games look amazing and come with unique features and bonuses. Catrina’s Coins isn’t that.
The theme is nothing we haven’t seen before. It’s colorful and works well, but nothing new.
And then we have the bonuses. It’s nice that they added those piñatas, because that’s what makes the game a little bit different. Without those, it’s just another one of those Hold & Respin or Hold & Collect slots. However you want to call them. Which there are dozens of already.
I still enjoyed the game and even got some pretty nice wins when testing. But overall it’s a pretty generic game, especially for a provider like Quickspin.
