They wens with a sort, modern, punk, graffiti, electric music type vibe for this game. Don’t know how else to explain it. It’s full of neon colors and a pretty cool soundtrack. It gives this strange retro, futuristic feel.

The game starts with 4 reels that are each 4 symbols high and uses 256 ways. Meaning that symbols pay from left to right, starting on the first reel, no matter where on the reels the symbols appear. But during gameplay more spots can be opened up, increasing the number of ways up to 10.000.

Besides low paying card symbols you will also find different graffiti type symbols, like a heart, crown and butterfly. And there are all sorts of bomb symbols, which will be explained below. There are no wild or scatter symbols on this slot game.

Avalanches

Winning symbols are removed from the reels and all other symbols drop down, new symbols than fall on top filling in the empty spots. And a new winning combination can appear. This keeps happening until no new winning combinations or bombs appear.

The game start with 4 reels that are each 4 symbols high. But there are 3 more rows of symbols above and below the reels, that are still locked.

Locked positions will be unlocked when a winning symbol appears adjacent to it, or because a bomb will explode a locked spot.

Verdict

NetEnt managed to release a very unique game with Big Bang Boom. Especially for a provider like NetEnt.

The bonus with the increasing multipliers isn’t anything we haven’t seen before, but they managed to make it feel new and different with those bombs.

They also use a theme that I didn’t expect from NetEnt.

Overall Big Bang Boom is a great game. The only small negative for me is the fact that the maximum payout is 4.300 times bet. This is a solid number, but because the game can get multipliers up to 2.048x, it also seems on the low side. I think they could have gone all out with a huge maximum win of like 50.000 times bet or more, like on Starburst XXXtreme for instance.
