Scepter of Anubis – Overview
It’s time for a new Quickspin release, which always makes me excited. And this time they have released a game called Scepter of Anubis. And yes, you get exactly what you expect, theme-wise. An Egyptian themed slot game surrounding the God Anubis.
As with most Quickspin slots, the game looks amazing with subdue colors, the pyramids behind the reels and a lot of Egyptian Gods on the reels. Of course the Anubis theme has been done a lot, like on for instance Temple of Torment by Hacksaw Gaming and Ankh of Anubis Awakening by Play’n Go. But they still managed to keep this one fresh.
The game uses 5 reels that are each 4 symbols high and comes with 40 paylines.
Besides low paying scarab symbols and medium to high paying God symbols, you will also find stacked wild symbols, in the form of Anubis. These wilds are 4 symbols high and can appear on all reels. Lastly there are also scatter symbols on all reels and a special Super scatter on reel 5. More on the wilds and scatters below.
Scepter of Anubis comes with a solid maximum payout of 10.000 times your bet and is a high volatile slot game.
Features
Nudge and Re-spins
Anubis is a stacked wild symbol that can appear on all reels. Each time an Anubis Wild lands partially on the screen, there is a chance it will nudge to cover the entire reel.
When a full Anubis Wild lands or is created because of a nudge, you will trigger a free re-spin. The Anubis Wild is held and all other reels re-spin. If a new Anubis Wild lands, that one is also held and you get another re-spin. Until no more new Anubis Wilds appear.
Free Spins Feature
3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols will award 8, 12 and 16 free spins respectively. If you don’t get 16 free spins you will first get the option to gamble the free spins for more, to a maximum of 16.
During free spins, any Anubis Wild will always nudge to cover the entire reel and will then become a sticky wild until the end of the free spins. Each Anubis Wild will trigger a re-spin as usual and also add 1 more free spin.
Super Free Spins
On reel 5 a special Super Scatter can appear. When you get 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols with one being the Super Scatter, you will trigger 8, 12 and 16 Super Free Spins. Again being able to gamble them first.
The only difference between normal and super free spins is the fact that when an Anubis Wild appear, a wheel will spin with a random multiplier of x2, x3, x5 or x100. This is applied to the current win and the re-spin triggered by the Anubis Wild. If a new Anubis Wild lands during the re-spin, the wheel will spin again and will award at least the same multiplier or higher.
Bonus Buy
For 80 times bet you are able to Free Spins Feature, for 160 times your bet you are able to buy the Super Free Spins Feature. Both awarding a minimum of 3 scatter symbols.
Verdict
If you are familiar with Quickspin slots, Scepter of Anubis is pretty much a copy of their Sakura Fortune games. With some small changes.
And I don’t mind that, I loved their Sakura Fortune slots. And I also like Scepter of Anubis a lot.
I like the look, I like the gameplay, during both base game and free spins. And I also like the fact that you can get Super Free Spins.
Scepter of Anubis does come with a lower maximum payout than the Sakura Fortune 2 game. But that’s fine for me. Who does ever get that maximum win anyway?
Overall Quickspin released another great slot game. Maybe nothing really new, but very enjoyable.
