Taco Fury XXXtreme was released by NetEnt in May of 2023.

And this game was the third slot game that uses the XXXtreme title, after Starburst XXXtreme and Milkshake XXXtreme.  The XXtreme refers mainly to the fact that you are able to activate XXXtreme spins, which are special boosted spins with guaranteed features.

Taco Fury XXXtreme combines a food truck with a zombie apocalypse. Which works pretty well and looks great.

The game is played on 5 reels that are each 3 symbols high and comes with 9 lines.

You fill find standard card symbols, 10, J, Q, K and A, but also symbols like weapons, body parts and a green zombie chef. There are also wild symbols, which only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. There are no scatter or bonus symbols.

Wild Explosion and respin

Above reels 2, 3 and 4 there is a special row where three types of random symbols can land. When a wild taco lands on the same reel, you will trigger a wild explosion. Depending on the color of the special symbol, you will receive the following wilds:

• Orange – The taco wild’s multiplier will increase by x1 and it will also add a wild on each adjacent reel
• Red – The taco wild’s multiplier will increase by x1 and the rest of the reel will become wild
• Purple – The taco wild’s multiplier will increase by x1 and it will add 2 or 3 extra random wilds on the reels

After all wild explosions have been added to the reels and you are paid, all wilds are held and you get a free respin.

XXXtreme Spins

You are able to activate two types of XXXtreme spins.

Verdict

To be honest, I’m not sure why this game got the XXXtreme spins and title. The XXXtreme games started with Starburst XXXtreme, which was an existing game and added XXXtreme spins. Which worked great and really made the game feel more extreme. Especially since that game has a maximum payout of 200.000 times bet.

After that one we got Milkshake XXXtreme. A new game with the same option to activate those special spins. Which was a pretty decent game and also a decent maximum payout of 7.100 times bet.

But Taco Fury XXXtreme? I mean the theme is funny and the gameplay is also enjoyable. But now we have probably the lowest maximum win on any NetEnt slot. Only 533 time bet. And the game is low volatile, where the others were high or extremely high. A bit of a strange way to go with an XXXtreme series of games. I don’t really get it.

But like I said, the game itself is pretty fun. And if you are a casual player, it might be a fun tile.
