Twin Spin XXXtreme was released by NetEnt in 2023.

This is the fourth slot game that uses the XXXtreme title, after Starburst XXXtreme, Milkshake XXXtreme and Taco Fury XXXtreme.  The XXtreme refers mainly to the fact that you are able to activate XXXtreme spins, which are special boosted spins.

Twin Spin was a NetEnt release from back in 2013 and was an instant hit for this provider. This version uses the same theme and a lot of the same setup as the original.

The game is played on 6 reels that are each 3 symbols high and comes with 729 ways. Meaning winning symbols pay from left to right, starting on the first reel, no matter where on the reels.

You fill find standard card symbols, 9, 10, J, Q, K and A, but also cherries, bells, bars, sevens and finally diamonds. All these regular symbols can appear stacked on all reels. Wild symbols are also available. But the game doesn’t use scatter or bonus symbols.

Twin Reels Feature

Each time you spin the reels at least 2 and maximum all 6 reels become Twin Reels. Twin Reels spin synchronized, meaning they land on the exact same 3 symbols on each reel.

Multiplier

When at least 3 Twin Reels are active, you might receive a random multiplier. How high the multiplier is depends on the number of synchronized reels:

• 3 Twin Reels – A multiplier between x2 and x5
• 4 Twin Reels –A multiplier between x3 and x10
• 5 Twin Reels – A multiplier between x4 and x10, x15 or x20

You are able to activate two types of XXXtreme spins.

Verdict

Of course if you are familair with Twin Spin, this XXXtreme version is instantly recognizable. The kept all the same symbols and even the Twin Reels feature from the original. They only added an extra reel. Which does increase maximum winnings.

And, like all these XXXtreme slots, you now have the option to activate special spins. These are costly, especially the one with the 4 Twin Reels. But it can also be very rewarding, as you might guess. So if you want to use these is up to you. I personally play the game as is.

Overall this addition to the XXXtreme titles works very well and it’s nice that they sometimes bring back the classics for this. Because playing Twin Spin XXXtreme did make me go back to the original Twin Spin, which is still, after all those years, a great title.
